The sixth annual Rivertowne Community BBQ is taking place Saturday, Aug. 13 at Joel Weeks Park.
All are welcome to this family-friendly barbecue event with food (halal and vegetarian options available), a snow cone machine, ice cream (for the first 100 kids) and live entertainment. All for free.
The event is being organized by the Rivertowne Safety First Program, a resident collective comprised of Toronto Community Housing’s women-leaders dedicated to making a positive impact in the community.
The Rivertowne BBQ supports event to support community engagement, neighbourhood integration, residents’ access to services, and to connect residents with local service providers and businesses in South Riverdale.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the event, and organizers are also asking for donations including gift cards, supplies, food or financial donations to help purchase items for this year’s community celebration.
Joel Weeks Park is at 50 Matilda St., west of Broadview Ave. and north of Queen St. East. The event is on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
