Chef Guy Rawlings, most recently the operations manager for Bar Isabel and Bar Raval, has made a return to the kitchen with the much-anticipated opening of Montgomery's.
Alongside his wife, Kim Montgomery Rawlings, the pair gutted the former space of Tom’s Family Restaurant space on Queen West.
The result is a 50-seat space with a minimal, industrial yet warm interior and an open kitchen and a standing bar where you can grab a quick bite and drink.
The menu is quirky and honest, drawing heavily on Canadian influences. Dishes cater to the more adventurous eaters with plates such as cottage cheese - kvass rye and over-cured beef ($10), and green peppers, duck heart and pine mushroom ($14).
Montgomery's is open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 996 Queen St. W. Visit montgomerysrestaurant.com for more info.
